DESCRIPTION

What better way to start your dinner on the haunted evening? Start scaring guests right away with an appetizer of crunchy puff pastry discs crawling with mischievous black olive spiders!

Ingredients (for about 40 pcs.)

  • Puff pastry: one roll
  • Tomato puree: 250 g
  • Pitted black olives: 80 g
  • Onion: 1 small
  • Garlic: 1 clove
  • Salt/pepper

  • Dried oregano
  • Extra-virgin olive oil

Directions

  1. Slice the onion on a cutting board and place it in a non-stick pan with the garlic clove and a drizzle of Extra-virgin olive oil.

  2. Sauté and pour in the tomato puree. Add the table salt, black pepper and dried oregano. Cook for about 5 minutes over low heat and set aside.

  3. To make the body and legs of the spiders you will need about forty olives. To create two little bodies, cut an olive in two lengthwise. For the legs you will need to slice the olives into rounds and then cut them in half.

  4. Preheat the oven to 180 °C fan assisted.

  5. Make puff pastry discs approximately 4 cm in diameter and place them onto a baking tray lined with baking paper. Top each disc with a generous teaspoon of tomato sauce. Bake for 6-7 minutes.

  6. When ready, remove the pan from the oven and allow to cool.

  7. Decorate each disc with an olive half in the center and with the slices cut in half to form the six legs.
